BLEPHAROPLASTY

WHAT IS BLEPHAROPLASTY?

Our eyes are windows into how we feel and who we are. Unfortunately, they’re also among the first facial features to convey signs of aging—something our Livermore, Dublin, and San Ramon blepharoplasty patients know all too well. Blepharoplasty surgery also known as an eyelid lift, is used to treat flaws around the eyes.

With eyelid surgery, fellowship-trained facial plastic surgeon Dr. Prem Tripathi lifts drooping upper eyelids and smooths puffy lower eyelids to create smoother, more refreshed-looking eyes that reflect the youthfulness you feel inside.

Blepharoplasty is a facial plastic surgery procedure that rejuvenates the eyes by addressing concerns such as drooping or sagging upper eyelids, puffy fat deposits or “bags” in the lower eyelids, and crepey or wrinkled skin around the eyes.

Dr. Tripathi performs 2 forms of blepharoplasty:

Upper blepharoplasty lifts sagging upper eyelids, better defines the upper eyelid crease, and may even reduce vision impairment caused bi-hooded eyelid skin. This creates a more awake and revitalized expression.

For upper blepharoplasty, he makes a small incision along your natural eyelid crease to conceal any scarring. He uses this incision to trim away skin, remove fat, and reposition muscles as needed.

Lower blepharoplasty reduces fat deposits under the eyes and smooths the area for a more youthful look. The procedure can also lift sagging skin along the lower eye that may be contributing to a fatigued appearance.

For lower blepharoplasty, he makes an incision either just below the lower lash line or inside the lower eyelid (transconjunctival). He then removes or repositions fat and tightens the skin.

He closes incisions with tiny sutures that will be removed within a week of your procedure.

These procedures can be performed separately or together, depending on the correction you’re looking for.
